Cathy and I were in the celebration mood while visiting Vancouver Island. When Covid hit we were looking for that special top notch restaurant and had four to choose from. Tofino and Ucluelet has some mighty fine dinning establishments that are truly rehearsed and polished. Great food with equally as good libations served with no attitude and a sea side view was what we were looking for. Loads of suggestions were given us from the many island foodie connoisseurs and visiting guests to the island like ourselves looking for the best bang for the buck. When you hear several folks say you must experience Pluvio or The Raven Lady, the decision to select this restaurant was made as soon as I read the menu and saw char grilled octopus, squid, oysters, clams and skate tossed with island greens we found all our favourites done with pure culinary expertise by the kitchen team of top notch chefs. One of the most awarded B. C. Chefs, Warren Barr, has created this exciting blend of Extreme West Coast cuisine. The name “Pluvio” illustrates the aim of the Restaurant and Lounge. Well we dined like reckless teenagers with dad’s gold card. I hate to say it but I had to be stopped before I ate anymore or that one thin wafer Monty Pythons sketch would have been a resemblance of me in a full glutton mode. One of the best restaurants this old chef as sampled that blew my taste buds away. I still have happy thoughts about what we were served. The Gazpacho soup pot with smoked and poached seafood morsels, mixed heirloom veg were exceptional. The tomato miso flavoured broth, so precisely prepared was over the top mouth-watering.. I was in nirvana. We kept the very polished waiter and her team showing what fun it is to be professional served with no flaws in the timing. Gastronomic bliss. I could ramble on for ever about this great chef who is passionate as myself about good food being taken to a new level of quality with genuine pride. Here is a just a small sample of what we hope will not totally spoil us trying to find an equal back here in BC.
