When thekitchenman and my sweetie travel across the country, we like to stay at a well known resorts or hotels, I always like to know, what’s cooking and who is cooking it today if we are staying for a few days. Asking if the chef is cooking today is always a good bet things should be stellar. After spending last spring living out of a suitcase for 3 months and traveling from BC to Ontario with plenty of stops and new cities to check out. A good Breakfast is usually the first meal that will tell you if the kitchen is up to snuff. A good selection of choices served or gratis buffet style making a personal request. For a lunch you get to try the freshness of the produce and how inventive the pantry section is. I like a fresh cobb salad or sandwich that packs a lot of interesting flavours and textures. This Crispy Duck Confit, BBQ Fish and smoked Salmon garden salad tells me that the cook is a good one. Later at dinner and you get to try the chefs creations. An alfresco happy hour or beach BBQ is the best bet when at a hotel or on an island resort to get to try several appies and the chef choices sure make a few guests very happy. Appetizers, Charchutterie, Steak, Lamb, Grilled Seafood along with all the trimmings. Good dinning makes the trip worthy of a great. Here I am sampling some of Pluvio’s Chef Warren Barr’s cuisine.
