VL’S Curry Bowl

VL’S Curry Bowl

VL’S Curry Bowl. Taking time to have lunch on the run while shopping means stopping at the mall food courts. Some of them have been operating for several years like the ones at my local T&T Market Mall in Surrey BC.  The Kiosks in T&T carry a fine selection of fresh Asian foods, meats and whole fish which brings me here a couple times a month. One of the best meals I can suggest is stopping and saying Hi to Michael at VL’S Curry Bowl. This kitchen has been pumping out good quality takeout with lots of flavour....
New Years Chinese Dim Sum

New Years Chinese Dim Sum

The sign to thekitchenman that you’re about to get some mighty fine tasting duck and pork bbq! Half and Half with some fluffy jasmine rice and the au jus dripping sauce is what you need! Some steamed bok choy and guy lan with jasmine tea and your still under twenty bucks!         The restaurants here in South Surrey really put some passion and effort into the dishes prepared for the celebrations. Stop me before I eat again! I started with some hot and sour soup and my sweetie prefers the chicken corn. Yum! Our dim sum items arrive to our...
Road Trip Nibble and a Nip!

Road Trip Nibble and a Nip!

I love road trips and checking out all the off the beat and track eateries especially this trip to Ucluelet. Tried some of the Hanks best Smoked Five Spice Duck Wings, Panko Crusted Rock Fish, Crispy Halibut and Albacore Street Tacos. The best of the day was a six pack of Effingham Fresh Shucked Oysters from the Raven Lady. Life is to short to eat mediocre fare!
Dim Sum

Dim Sum

Life without Dim Sum would be a boring weekend for me. I love to have other chefs feed me. Dim Sum Brunches have become very affordable and busy. A good selection with tea and dessert will set you back 25 bucks. Check out what I had New Years Day. Started with a bowl of chicken corn chowder and a bowl of hot and sour soup. The veggie spring rolls with in-house made plum sauce were deluxe. The pork and mushroom wonton, wok fried in a chili pea-nutty sauce topped with steamed spinach tops. The main event was the seafood chow mien, the crispy noodle foundation with plump...
Shanghai Dining Wok.

Shanghai Dining Wok.

When thekitchenman has had a long day, I like takeout Chinese stir fry dishes. We have many choices of Asian restaurants here in South Surrey and surrounding Vancouver and it’s growing daily. I like the simple sweet and sour pork, or the pot stickers. The soups are very well made. The wonton and seafood are yummy. The Shanghai Noodle with spicy pork is my fav. For the last several years, I have found this neighborhood jewel of a restaurant call the Shanghai Dining Wok. The owners take good care of us his...
